🎨 Calling All Katy ISD Students! 🎨
Get ready to showcase your creativity at the 2024 Katy Rice Harvest Festival Arts Contest! This year’s theme celebrates Historic Katy—from our famous rice dryers to life in Katy during the 1900s. Re-create an old building or use inspiration from our local museums—the possibilities are endless!

See your art teacher for the contest packet, full rules, and registration form. Entries are due by Wednesday, October 2nd. Winners will be awarded ribbons for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in each class and category, plus a Best of Show award!

All entries will be displayed during the Katy Rice Harvest Festival—come out and support Katy’s young artists!

Calling all amateur chefs! Join the fun and showcase your culinary skills at the Katy Rice Harvest Festival Rice Cooking Contest. This event is open to cooks of all ages who love to experiment with RICE as their main ingredient. Bring your best dish for a chance to win great prizes and bragging rights!

Event Date: Saturday, October 12, 2024

Location: Contest tent near KT Antiques

Dish Drop-Off Deadline: No later than 10:30 AM

Between 9:00 - 9:30 AM, drive up to the tent.

After 9:30 AM, bring your dish through the main entrance.

Deadline to Enter: Wednesday, October 2, 2024

Judging Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Winners Announced: 4:00 PM on the Main Stage.
Entry Guidelines:
-
Open to all amateur chefs (no professional chefs, restaurant operators, or dietitians).
-
One dish per contestant.
-
Dishes must be prepared at home and brought to the festival in a 9x13 disposable aluminum pan, at serving temperature.

Each pan must be labeled with the dish’s title.
-
Submit your recipe with the entry form, including ingredients, preparation, and cooking instructions.

Drop-off time: No later than 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
-
Dishes arriving between 9:00 - 9:30 AM may drive straight to the contest tent.
-
After 9:30 AM, dishes must be walked through the main entrance.

No registration fee.​

Recipe Requirements:

The primary ingredient must be rice.
-
Dishes should serve approximately 20 people.
-
Dishes must be covered, labeled, and brought in a disposable aluminum pan.

Bowls and utensils will be provided.

Include serving suggestions with your dish.
Judging Criteria:

Judging Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM.

Awards: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, plus a People’s Choice Award (based on guest votes).
